Area IPM Advisor Pete Goodell won the UC Agriculture and Natural Resource (ANR) Distinguished Service Award for Outstanding Leader.
Although his program focuses on important insect and nematode pests in field and row crops in the Southern San Joaquin Valley, his leadership extends throughout the state and western region. Examples of Goodell’s leadership over his 35-year career with UC IPM include IPM advisor coordinator, current role as associate director for agricultural IPM, leader in the Western Region IPM coordinators group, and interim UC IPM director from 2006 to 2009.
Goodell’s big-picture visions and ability to collaborate with others contributed greatly to the success of UC IPM, ANR and the IPM community.
