Invertebrates—Distinguishing Between Orange Tortrix and Garden Tortrix

Be sure to distinguish orange tortrix from garden tortrix; the latter may be caught in traps but is not a pest of grape.

Identification tip: Garden tortrix moths are buff brown. Forewings are marked with a dark-brown diagonal stripe and a marginal spot, producing a chevron pattern with greater contrast than that of orange tortrix.

Identification tip: Orange tortrix moths are fawn or gray and the chevron pattern has less contrast than that of the garden tortrix.
